Pets at Peace – Pet Loss and Memorial Services
2375 Queen Street East, Toronto
When pets die, the people who love them go through the same grieving process as if they had lost a human loved one. Grief is complicated, however, for pet guardians there is often no outlet or ritual for working through it. Owner, Helen Hobbs opened Pets at Peace in 2004 after many years as a Funeral Director in human funeral homes. As licensed funeral directors and pet owners, we have the understanding and skills needed to help you through this difficult time.
After a friend’s upsetting experience with her cat’s cremation, Helen wanted to make sure she would have full control of her 4 pet’s aftercare when their time came.
In a recent survey people stated what they expected from a Pet Funeral Home:
Memorial and service option – whether it be cremation only or a service
Acknowledgement that pets are family members, loved, cherished and valued
A safe place to grieve – not rushed to make decisions and that all questions and concerns were honestly and openly answered enabling families to make informed decisions.
A written guarantee the ashes will be ONLY of their beloved pet and how that is achieved.
Pets at Peace provides gentle and respectful transfer of your pet from either your home or Vet Clinic or you may wish to have your pet stay in your care and bring them to our location. We provide Individual cremation only which includes an urn and pet ashes are available to the family within a week. More and more families are choosing this option. In our first year we served 11 families and last year we cared for 400 beloved pets.
