  1. There's always controversy with these. Last time, there was an outcry against the judges choice, and as a result the rules were changed.

  2. Sophie would appreciate honest votes ;) , and we pledge to share any prize won with Project Jessie, who saved her life and helped so many other homeless animals!

  3. Active Sophie! I wish her the best of luck....Project Jessie is such a great organization...there will be an update on the site tomorrow :)

  4. First of all, it's a great picture of Mia! Second, Mia is a rescue dog with many friends in the rescue community. She too is pledging to share any prize won with a rescue group -- Boston Terrier Rescue Canada -- the organization who saved her, which does great work just like the wonderful folks at Project Jessie.

  5. what a lovely contest - great idea :)
thanks for inviting feedback - people do what they want regarding cheating ...

  6. Ever hear of social networking Anonymous ... lots of ways to spread the word.

  7. FYI, Mia is not cheating and there is no vote tampering going on. Mia is part of a great social network which includes a rescue group, friends, family etc. We are all spreading the word and voting regularly to support Mia.

I am insulted to know that anyone would suggest any sort of cheating! We are a honest group of people out to support a lovely dog and nothing else!!

  8. I thought people could only vote once per computer. I don't think anyone can vote more than once, I certainly cannot from my computer.

  9. Hi all I just got home (that's why you're just seeing comments posted now). With regard to the voting, I can only hope that no finalist would resort to "cheating" by using a computer program or other hacking method. This would defeat the purpose of having these contests for fun. As an explanation, if you are not already aware, I had three judges vote in the last contest for their favourites, and combined this with reader votes. This however, caused quite an uproar, as some voters did not agree with the judges choices (now I know why people get so heated around Oscar season!). It was for this reason that I changed the decision method this go around, with only reader votes counting. In order to try to be as fair as possible, I also offered a prize to EVERY ONE of the top 10 entries (I did this because some people may not have as big a social network as others, but I still think they deserve a prize for making it to the top 10). For now, I think we will have to stick with the rules that were laid out in the beginning. If however, you happen to be a finalist who is using what many might consider to be unethical tactics (I'm not accusing), I urge you to stop doing so. Doing so is clearly not fair to others in the final group (that shouldn't need to be said)and does everything to take away from the fun that others are having with the contest.
Of course, if you have any suggestions, they are always welcome in the comment section or by emailing me at torontopetdaily@gmail.com. Please remember that I myself am getting used to glitches such as these, and any positive feedback, or negative (so long as it comes with a respectable tone)is greatly appreciated as I move the blog forward.
    Thanks again all! :)

  10. I agree. There's no way that within a span of 2 hrs certain contestants points are going up by the hundred. Not fair at all,

  11. Sure there are lots of ways to get tons of votes in the span of a short time ... it's called email all your friends, family, texting, MSN, Facebook, Twitter, Forums, Rescue groups (filled with hundreds of volunteers) and ask people to spread the word. It is very possible!

  12. There is no cheating going on for MIA she is a very popular dog apart of many groups. It simple that everyone is spreading the word to our friends and friends of friends. Its called networking. This site should appreciate the gained attention and delete comments of cheating. Clearly you can all see that you can not vote twice on the same computer.

  13. PS Griswold is a really strong photo as well.

  14. I really like Griswold...& I'm glad there's a cat in there...there were a few rat entries that didn't make it (some made the finals a few contests back)....I'm still waiting for a turtle, though I don't think "Action!" is the best theme haha...I still haven't voted...I like them all!

  15. I don't think there should be 2 "Monkeys"!
    That's not fair!!

  16. I certainly hope that last comment was in hopes of soliciting laughs, because it worked.

  17. I am Mia's owner and I am very upset that you continue to accuse me of cheating to get my votes. You are so convinced that there is no way of getting that many votes in a short period of time. What does one do when they see their votes getting passed they beg more people to vote. I am begging and pleading with anyone and everyone I know to vote and to tell their friends and spread the word far and wide and that is what people have been doing for Mia. Here is a list of the social networking I have worked hard to do to get Mia all the votes she has received:

    - Posted on Facebook
    - Posted on Twitter
    - Posted on several Boston Terrier Forums
    - Emailed everyone I know
    - Posted on my MSN Profile
    - Asked everyone I know at work
    - Posted to the rescue group which I am a volunteer for and adopted Mia from

All of my votes are from humans and absolutely no proxy servers. So as you can see I am getting the word out there because I want her to win so I may donate the prize back to the rescue from where she came.

Is that enough proof for you. I kindly ask you to stop being accusatory.

  18. In addition to Mia's owner doing her networking, everyone at Boston Terrier Rescue Canada ( a CRA registered charity) has also passed the word and networked within their own circle of family, friends and co workers. That's how these contests are won. And yes, 100 votes in ten minutes IS possible. After all this is the electronic age...
Mia's owner has been generous in donating any possible prize she may win back to our organzation. Rescues are always cash strapped and operate in the red. At times, our own members dig deep into their own pockets to pay for that emergency surgery or buy another crate to save "one more dog". The only problem is that there is always "one more dog... and another... and another, but never anymore money to go around. I have never met Mia, although I am actively involved with Boston Terrier Rescue. Whatever the outcome of this contest, I want to thank her and her owner for making this generous gesture. It's unfortunate that such a kind and sincere act has been tainted by one or two people who are so jaded that they can only assume everyone is dishonest.

  20. I know Mia's owner. She is an honest person!
She JUST posted this link on Facebook.
That's how I heard about the contest. I have only voted this one time!!!

  21. Sounds like someone's a piss poor loser and needs a time out in the corner.... Leave Mia's guardian alone and go sulk somewhere else Anonymous.

  22. I imagine if the commenters were not anonymous they could make things easier to believe for everyone. I think Mia's picture is great but I'm gonna vote for my own photo :)

  23. I have done the same as Mia's owner to my network of friends via facebook, twitter and e-mail. I think in this day of social networking that this is not uncommon. Yes, I want to see Mia win so that the money goes to help other rescue dogs and that is why I case my net far and wide.

I think the comments about cheating should be deleted immediately as they are totally false.

Also I want to thank Mia's owner for graciously donating and amount that Mia may win to rescue - you are awesome!

  24. To Mia's owner:

Don't let it get you down.

I personally (as I'm sure do many others) appreciate the effort you're making to help out such a worthwhile organization)

It's just a fun little contest, that I've entered myself from time to time and at the end of the day it's just an opportunity to share some pics of our pets. That you use any winnings towards helping out other dogs that need some help, is pretty cool.

    from Lupa's mom
(who didn't make the top 10 but didn't really care, she had fun creating the picture anyways)

    To animal charities in general?

    Keep up the good work!

To the rest of the contestants?

    Great shots!!

    To the Admin

    You volunteered for this huh?

    lol

  25. I am going to take down any accusations of cheating...it's not really why I started this, and as I stated before, the blame can fall on me to a degree....and blogger FOR NOT HAVING A MORE SECURE SYSTEM - GET ON IT BLOGGER!! - In the meantime just try to enjoy the contest, and I promise that before the next contest starts next week, I'll make sure there's no way to run into any such problems. Cheers & thanks all. :)

PS Remember you'll all be getting a prize, and $10.00 will be donated to Helping Homeless Pets on behalf of each of the top 10!

  26. I'm sure more of the contestants are hoping to donate the winnings to a charity of their choice too, so I don't see why everyone who's commenting here seems to mention that about mia.

Either way - Her action shot is great and so are all the others.

    Voting now :)

  27. I would like to thank admin for removing the cheating comments… I did not read them. But I have to add that I know the owner of Mia and she is one of the nicest, fairest, kindest and giving person I have met. So I know firsthand that she has lots of people [family, friends and colleagues] who support her. I heard about this from a post she had on her facebook. I am voting for Mia.

@ Mia’s parents/guardians: Don’t let this bother you. Oh Oh BTW, this is Guru Voting :) :D

@Pooya I understand and respect the fact that you voted for your own shot… about me being anonymous, I just didn’t want to create an account.
